It's time to ask them the question again seriously: "what do you want to be when you grow up". If you want to be an mathematician is English really necessary, if you want to be an artist is calculus really necessary, if you want to be a programmer do you really have to take music. With the education already crumbling, we have common core into obliterating it into dust. If it wasn't bad enough now students are suffering from more anxiety and depression under the common core. When the material doesn't contribute to what they want to do in life and even makes them suffer. Then their wasting their youth, abilities and time. Things they could utilize, to help build up their skills to help them pursue their careers. They would definitely thank you later.
